This policy explains what information the Drink Your Water app collects, how it's used, and what choices you have. We built Drink Your Water to work almost entirely on your device — this policy reflects that.
Drink Your Water is developed by Jarrod Simpson, doing business as Drink Your Water ("we," "us," or "our"). You can reach us at support@drinkyourwater.app with any privacy questions.
Drink Your Water does not require you to create an account, and does not ask for your name, email address, or contact details to use the app. The information below is stored locally on your device using an on-device database, and is not transmitted to us or to any server we control.
Habit & reminder settings
Reminder text, scheduled times, frequency, custom habit frameworks — on-device only
Completion history
Timestamps you confirmed a habit, snooze counts — on-device only
Progress data
Streak counts, best streak, total completions — on-device only
App preferences
Overlay theme, notification sound, motivational content style, vacation mode dates — on-device only
Uninstalling the app, or using the Delete All Account Data option in Settings, permanently erases this information from your device.
Drink Your Water does not request access to your camera, microphone, contacts, precise location, photos, or files. If a future version requests a new permission (for example, to schedule notifications reliably on newer Android versions), we'll update this policy and the in-app explanation before that permission is used.
Custom habit frameworks beyond the free water-reminder tier are offered through auto-renewing subscriptions. These purchases are processed entirely by Google Play's billing system (and, for any future iOS version, Apple's App Store billing). We do not receive or store your payment card details — Google and Apple handle that directly under their own privacy policies.
We use the following services to operate the app. Each only sees what's described below:
We do not display third-party advertising and do not sell your information to anyone.
Drink Your Water is not directed at children under 13 (or the relevant age of consent in your region), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since core app data stays on-device and no account is required, there is minimal collection risk either way. If you believe a child has provided us information through a support channel, contact us and we'll delete it.
Habit and progress data is retained on your device for as long as you keep the app installed. You can delete all locally stored data at any time via Settings → Delete All Account Data, or by uninstalling the app. Subscription records are retained by Google Play (and Apple, for any future iOS version) according to their own retention policies, primarily for billing and fraud-prevention purposes.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information, and to object to certain processing (for example, under the EU/UK GDPR or the California Consumer Privacy Act). Because Drink Your Water stores your habit data locally rather than on our servers, you can exercise most of these rights directly in the app via the delete-data option. For anything else — including questions about data held by our payment or subscription processors — contact us at support@drinkyourwater.app.
Habit data is stored in your device's app-private storage, which is sandboxed by the Android operating system and inaccessible to other apps without root access. No method of storage is perfectly secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security, but nothing here is transmitted over the network by default, which limits exposure considerably.
We may update this policy as the app evolves — for example, when we add new features or third-party services. We'll update the "Effective date" above when we do, and for material changes we'll provide notice in the app.
